THE CD RECORDER A Newsletter Produced & Published by Octave Systems, Inc. - Vol. IV, Issue #9 - September, 2001 "Octave Systems - the Intelligent Choice"

"Make your CDs auto-play and put websites on CD"

To create an auto-run CD ROM (sometimes called auto-play) do the following:

1. Open note pad (or any text editor)
2. Type in the following, [autorun] open=file2berun.exe *"file2berun.exe" is the file that you would like launched - make sure you get the path right.
3. Save the file as AUTORUN.INF as a text file
4. Burn autorun.inf and file2berun.exe to your CD with Nero
5. Test it. The result you are looking for is once the CD is inserted into the CD ROM the "file2berun.exe" should launch automatically.
6. Distribute!

Notes: Windows needs to have the auto-run feature for the CD-ROM the user is using turned on, this is the normal default, but some people turn it off.

We recommend files to be launched are kept in the root directory of the CD.
